1. Origin of the Name "Loo"
The name comes from the card game "Loo" (also known as "Lanterloo"), a gambling game that was fashionable during the 18th and 19th centuries.
These tables were designed specifically for playing cards and social games, and were often called "loo tables" regardless of whether they were used for Loo or other games.
2. Design Features
Typically round or oval with a tilt-top mechanism, allowing the tabletop to be flipped vertically for easy storage.
